Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard

July 2026

As night fell and we smelled the smoke rising from the shore, we slipped into the sea.

We drank a little more and turned our bow farther east.

Day by day.

Night by night.

The groans and the howls only grew louder.

We had no idea who we were, or where we were going.

Still, we believed in tomorrow.

Tomorrow was always better.
