A busy restaurant with waitstaff and diners, during evening hours, with large windows and warm interior lighting.

The Floor

The floor is an ongoing photographic and interview project centered on restaurant servers working in San Francisco, New York, and Europe. Made between shifts and services, the work looks at labor, identity, and the quiet human moments that surface inside dining rooms—spaces defined by movement, attention, and unseen effort.

“I don’t know if this is a profession or a passage. I’m going with the flow. Who knows what happens in the future.”

— Ricardo, San Francisco
